This checklist contains a total of 618 bird species documented from the Kangchenjunga Landscape. This information has been collated from the country level feasibility assessment reports of Kangchenjunga Landscape prepared by the implementing partners in Bhutan, India and Nepal as well as from various literatures.

There are a total of 618 bird species belonging to 19 orders and 77 families. Passeriformes is the dominant order that constitutes 62% of the total records. Among the families, Muscicapidae is the most common and diversely represented family.

The Kangchenjunga Landscape encompasses the southern stretch of landscape surrounding Mt Kangchenjunga (8,586m), which spreads over diverse ecological zones in eastern Nepal, North Bengal and Sikkim in India, and western Bhutan.

- The database was created in excel sheet using secondary information collected from various literature and country level feasibility assessment reports of the Kangchenjunga Landscape. Scientific names of species, their families, orders, IUCN status, habitat and distribution etc were crosschecked with relevant literature for their accuracy.The data were then transformed into the Darwin Core Format.
