Management Capacity Index (MCI) of Nepal and Bihar part of Koshi Basin
Management Capacity Index (MCI): refers to the socio-economic attributes; in the absence of which; responsible for the water vulnerability. The variables such as literacy rate, population without sanitation, access to electricity, drinking water coverage, type of houses, women headed households, incidence of poverty etc are taken into account to calculate the MCI.

- Using this indicator, one can easily identify which part of Koshi basin is relatively poor in terms of management capacity. Higher the management capacity means the stronger the basin in terms of adaptative capacity. This will be helpful to design intervention plan to improve the management capacity of a particular sub-basin.
